Let’s Not be “Too Late”
Let’s Not be “Too Late”
As we take a minute to reflect on yesterday, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we think about the man himself who spurred incredible action across the world because of his passion for equality and justice. He didn’t wait for ‘some day’ to be the day he woke up and decided to make a difference. Every day was his ‘some day.’ And his legacy lives on forever because through his leadership he acted on, the “fierce urgency of now.”
Exactly one year before he was killed, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. spoke these words at Riverside Church in New York:
“We are now faced with the fact that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history there is such a thing as being too late … This is no time for apathy or complacency. This is a time for vigorous and positive action.”
Martin Luther King, Jr. recognized that he didn’t want to be “too late.” All across the world, and right here in our community, there are pressing issues and challenges that need to be addressed today. We don’t want to be too late, and we know you don’t want to be either.
Undoubtedly, Martin Luther King, Jr. was a dreamer, a leader, and a philanthropist. As are you, the amazing people with whom we work with here at the North Georgia Community Foundation. Don’t put off your action and passion to ‘some day,’ and be too late – let us help you today and everyday to fulfill your dreams and legacy of philanthropy.
