Civic-Minded Initiatives
LBRCA Supports Students Through Scholarships
When the Lake Blue Ridge Civic Association, Inc. (LBRCA) reorganized in 2012, the nonprofit group set two main initiatives: Lake Stewardship and Social Activities.
As membership grew, the governing board expanded and began to consider other civic-minded activities in and around Fannin County, Georgia. Through annual membership dues, LBRCA established and endowed a scholarship fund at the North Georgia Community Foundation (NGCF); they have since designated a percentage of their annual dues toward the fund each year.
The scholarship fund supports deserving Fannin County High School seniors who want to continue their education after graduation. The first award was made in 2017; the number of awards given each year and their amount has continued to grow. Future plans include expanding the awards to support more vocational disciplines and programs.
LBRCA has formed the ideal plan to ensure the growth and stewardship of their scholarship fund. Working with NGCF to administer the scholarship, maintaining an objective selection committee, and relying on the high school to promote the award are all integral parts of this plan. Through their scholarship efforts, LBRCA has proven their commitment to area students and to the future of our community, for good, forever.
How a Scholarship Fund Works:
Make tax-deductible donations to create the Fund.
