2024 Opportunity Grants

North Georgia Community Foundation Announces $127,500 in Opportunity Grants to Five Deserving Recipients

The North Georgia Community Foundation (NGCF) is proud to announce their Opportunity Grant Program has awarded a total of $127,500 to five nonprofits in North Georgia. These recipients were selected to receive funding to initiate new services, or expand current services, that address critical needs in the communities they serve.

“NGCF Opportunity Grants are an investment in pivotal changes or new ventures which enable organizations to increase their impact to not only individuals they directly serve but also for the broader community.” said Abi Carter, Sr. Director of Strategic Initiatives at NGCF. “Without this support, these initiatives may otherwise have remained unrealized due to funding constraints.”

This year’s diverse group of grant recipients reflects the foundation’s commitment to responding to the evolving needs of the region. This year’s recipients, program descriptions, and areas of impact are:

  • AMPED Kids Foundation (currently serving Hall County, primarily) to expand into White County
    • Award: $2,500 to expand services into White County including weekly musical lessons, free band instruments and fees for Foster Children in White County.
    • Service Area: White County
  • The Creative Learning Center to increase their impact in Rabun County
    • Award: $11,000 to provide funding for the final physical items needed to bring the infant room up to capacity while providing access to critical crisis care funding for low-income families in Rabun County which will allow them access to quality childcare.
    • Service Area: Rabun County
  • Georgia Mountain Food Bank for the Client Choice Mobile Market
    • Award: $24,000 toward first-year operating expenses for the Client Choice Mobile Market which allows increased distribution of fresh, refrigerated, and frozen items such as fruits, vegetables, dairy, and meats in remote communities that do not have adequate access to traditional food pantries.
    • Service Area: Hall, Union, Lumpkin, Dawson & Forsyth Counties
  • Rape Response for their rebranding/new name transition to Bridging Hope
    • Award: $15,000 toward their rebranding initiative which will allow them to expand their services by overcoming barriers that stem from the harshness of the word rape and how it is received by the community. These barriers include being blocked from providing healthy relationship classes in a school setting to a lack of reporting from survivors who experience forms of sexual violence other than rape.
    • Service Area: Hall, Dawson, Forsyth, Habersham, Lumpkin & White Counties
  • South Enotah Child Advocacy Center (currently operating in White County) to open a satellite office in Lumpkin County
    • Award: $75,000 to open a satellite office and increase access to services in Lumpkin County which will limit the travel it takes for families to receive critical services and allow children to receive trauma-focused therapy in Dahlonega.
    • Service Area: White & Lumpkin Counties
